Initial Jewellery
Why choose an initial piece
An initial is one of the simplest ways to make a piece of jewellery unmistakably personal, without needing to know someone’s exact taste. It works as a piece for yourself, marking your own identity, or as a gift that says “this was made for you specifically,” rather than chosen off a generic shelf.
Layered onto one of our meaning-led pieces, like Phoenix Courage or Darling Heart, an initial adds a second, quieter layer of meaning, not just what the piece represents, but exactly who it represents it for.
Who people choose an initial for
Our customers use initial pieces in a few different ways:
• Their own initial, worn as a quiet marker of identity.
• A partner’s or best friend’s initial, worn close as a daily reminder of them.
• A child’s initial, one of the most popular choices for new mothers and grandmothers alike.
• Multiple initials layered together, for anyone building a small, personal collection over time.
Can I combine an initial with a birthstone?
Yes. Several of our best-selling pieces, including the Phoenix Courage Necklace and Darling Heart Necklace, can be personalised with an initial and a birthstone together, so a single pendant can carry both identity and meaning.
How it’s made?
Each initial is handcrafted by hand alongside the rest of the piece in our York studio, not stamped or added as an afterthought, in recycled sterling silver or solid 9ct gold.
Dispatch
Every initial piece is handcrafted to order. Silver pieces typically take 2-3 weeks; 9ct gold pieces are handmade and hallmarked to order, so please allow 4-5 weeks. Worth bearing in mind if you’re buying for a specific date.
